SSC CGL Exam 2020
The SSC CGL (Staff Selection Commission – Combined Graduate Level Examination) is conducted to recruit staff to Government of India ministries and organisations.
SSC CGL Exam 2020 Dates
SSC will conduct the Tier – I CGL Exam from 2 to 11 March 2020 and the Tier-II & Tier-III CGL Exam from 22 to 25 June 2020. The date for the Tier-IV exam is yet to be announced. The CGL Exam 2020 will be held online.
Eligibility
The educational qualifications for SSC CGL 2020 are as follows:
Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer
- Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University
- Desirable Qualification: CA/ CS/ MBA/ Cost & Management Accountant/ Masters in Commerce/ Masters in Business Studies
During probation, direct recruits will have to qualify for the Subordinate Audit Service Examination for confirmation and regular appointment as Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer.
Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) Post
– Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university/institute in any subject with a minimum of 60% marks in mathematics at the 12th standard level.
OR
– Bachelor’s degree in any subject with Statistics as a subject at the degree level.
All other posts
Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or equivalent in any discipline.
Candidates appearing in the final year of graduation can also apply but they must possess Essential Qualification.
Syllabus
Tier-I
The Tier-I exam is an objective exam that will be conducted online. It comprises four sections consisting of 100 questions with 25 questions in each section. They will account for a total of 200 marks. The duration will be 60 minutes.
The sections comprise Quantitative Aptitude, English Language and Comprehension, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness.
- 0.5 marks will be deducted from every wrongly-attempted question across all sections.
- The exam duration will be 80 minutes for candidates who are visually impaired and for those who suffer from cerebral palsy.
Tier-II
The Tier-II exam is an objective exam that will be conducted online. It comprises four papers: Quantitative Abilities, English Language and Comprehension, Statistics, and General Studies (Finance and Economics). They will account for a total of 800 marks of 200 marks each. The duration of each paper will be 2 hours. The duration is 2 hours and 40 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped.
- Paper-I will be equivalent to Matriculation level; Paper-II to 10+2 level; and Paper-III and Paper-IV to graduation level.
- Paper-I and II are compulsory for all posts.
- Paper-III is for candidates applying for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO). It is also for those who are shortlisted in Tier-I for this post.
- Paper-IV is for candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-IV.
- 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in Paper-II and 0.50 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper-III and Paper-IV.
Tier-III
Tier – III exam is a descriptive exam (English/Hindi) that will be conducted offline. Candidates are required to write essays, précis etc. in 60 minutes. It accounts for a total of 100 marks.
Tier-IV
Tier – IV exam consists of skill tests including DEST (Data Entry Speed Test) for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise and Income Tax), and CPT (Computer Proficiency Test) for the post of Assistant Section Officer of Central Secretariat Service (CSS), Assistant Section Officer (MEA), and Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines.
