Can someone shed some light on One Year MBAs. Whats the major difference in the course curriculum when compared to 2 yr. MBA? Is the curriculum too crunched? Should I go for 1 year or 2 Year MBA ?

One year MBA is designed specifically for experienced professionals and is more popular now than they were 5 years back.

2-year programs go deeper into academic concepts.

With similar salaries, the choice really comes down to your profile.

COLLEGES

1 Year MBA (GMAT preferred) – SOIL, ISB, 1 year courses by IIMs (5 yr exp.), MDI – NMP(5 yr exp.), XLRI(5 yr exp.), SP Jain(5 yr exp.), Crescent School of Business (2 Years), Great Lakes (2 Yrs) etc

2 Year MBA (CAT, XAT, NMAT, SNAP, MAT)- IIMs, Symbiosis, NMIMS, XLRI, XIMB are some good ones

Good Luck!

The key differences between the two options can be distilled down to the following points:

1 Target: The 2yr version is meant more for relative freshers or people with very limited experience because there is more time to focus on elementary aspects of management theory. The 1yr programs target more experienced students (with >3-4 years of work ex) and try to achieve more depth and breadth in content

2 Costs: The costs of the 2yr program are higher than the shorter version due to both tuition fees as well as double the ancillary expenses like a hostel, food, etc.

3 Coverage: With more elementary courses and internships, the 2yr version focuses on getting inexperienced students ready for a career. The 1yr version on the other hand breezes through basics and does away with the internships because experienced students are expected to be well versed with what these items can provide
