  • Quora Answer (https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-pros-and-cons-of-pursuing-2-Year-MBA-course-from-one-of-the-top-IIMs-at-the-age-of-30/answer/Amit-Mittal-45)

IIM-ABC&L full-time 2-year programs will allow you whatever latitude you want in placements but the responsibility to perform academically is unilaterally yours and much more demanding. You do have a faint prospect for trying successfully at the Consulting and IB programs on Wall Street in this more demanding 2-year program.

That is however no longer saying you are partaking any advantages in the two-year program as earlier the tradition in India. The one-year programs are indeed recognized as complete MBAs but perforce do not invite Consulting and Investment Banking placements.

Pros:
1. With your experience, you will be able to deal with course load more easily than your peers
2. Your relative maturity will be useful in assuming a leadership role with your study groups
3. The experiences that you have been through can serve as good talking points to enhance classroom discussions
4. You can relate academic concepts to your experiences, thus enhancing your learning

Cons:
1. You will be near the top end of the batch in terms of age, which could become a hindrance in slotting you for placements
2. It will take you twice the time to get back into corporate life compared to a 1-year program – time that you need to decide whether you can spare or not
3. It may be difficult for you to relate to most of your batchmates
