Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the most desired of all the law entrance tests in India. CLAT was initiated in 2008. Presently, more than 55,000 students write the entrance test every year to secure a seat in one of the participating National Law Universities (NLUs) including National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore, also known as the Harvard of the East.

Each year, CLAT is conducted for 22 NLUs aside from National Law University Delhi, which has its process of selection. CLAT is held by the Consortium of National Law Universities headed by National Law School of India University (NLSIU). The exam is tentatively scheduled to be held in the second week of May. The exam is held for admission in undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by the NLUs. 

 

Eligibility Criteria for CLAT 2020

Any candidate who has completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination is eligible to apply for CLAT 2020 Exam. Minimum marks required for different categories are listed below:

· 45% marks for General/ Other Backward Class (OBC)/ Specially abled person categories.

· 40% marks for Scheduled Class (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.

*No upper age limit criteria are applied. 

 

2020 Exam Conducting Body

National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi is the exam conducting body for the new session. It’s expected to release the online application form of CLAT 2020 from 1st January 2020. The last date for the online application form is 31st March 2020. The application form will be the same for candidates seeking admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate course. One can select the course while filling the form.

CLAT 2020 will be conducted in offline mode. It will include 200 objective type questions, each carrying 1 mark. Every wrong answer will carry a penalty of 0.25 marks. The time duration for the exam will be 2 hours i.e. 120 minutes. The question paper will cover questions from five subjects i.e. English, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Mathematics.
