How the Coronavirus Spreads in Public Places

 

The panic is increasing because of the newly found Covid-19, how can you protect yourself in a lockdown world.

 

Coronavirus or COVID-19 is spreading at a tremendous rate and it is by far one of the most easily transmitted diseases in the world. Due to the sudden rise in the number of deaths, COVID-19 is confirmed as a pandemic and countries around the world are taking special measures to protect themselves from the disease.

Coronavirus is the newly found strain which was non-existent in human beings before. It was in the winter of 2019 that Coronavirus emerged from the Wuhan region of mainland China. Due to excessive travelling and give and take of currency, sneezing in public or common handshakes, the virus was distributed among different people and slowly became a world pandemic forcing people to stay inside of their houses and closing of offices and shopping complexes. 

 


 

How it spreads

The most common way COVID – 19 spread is by touching. Sneezing and shaking hands. While sneezing, the mucus spreads out in the air and the person who touches that virus containing mucus carries that virus with him/her and due to touching the face or eating with the same hand, the virus gets transmitted to that person and the chain continues. 

 

How it spreads in public places

The World Health Organization has confirmed that Coronavirus is one its kind and it can be easily transmitted to people who do not maintain basic hygiene habits. Metro railing, doorknobs, public washrooms, street food or a basic handshake are the most common ways COVID- 19 spreads in public places.

 Countries around the world are fighting back by regularly cleaning the metro railing, doorknobs of offices, malls, shopping complexes and constant medical checking of people who just came back from a foreign land.

 

How to protect yourself :

The easiest and common way to protect yourself is by maintaining the basic hygiene habits like:

  • Washing your hands frequently
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Cover your cough using the bend of your elbow or a tissue.
  • Avoid crowded places and close contact with anyone that has fever or cough.
  • Stay at home if you feel unwell.
  • If you have a fever and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early – But call first
  • Get information from trusted resources like doctors, WHO and the UN.

One of the ways offices are fighting the pandemic is making the ‘work from home’ routine for their employees. Countries like India, America, Canada, Pakistan, China and more are continuously working towards keeping the local markets closed and people are advised to wear N95 masks whenever they go out for work.
