GATE, an acronym for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, is an exam that tests candidates’ comprehensive understanding of undergraduate subjects in Engineering, Technology, and Architecture as well as post-graduate level subjects in Science. IIT Delhi will be the organising authority for Gate Exam2020.

 

Important dates for Gate Exam 2020

Admit card for GATE 2020 will be available online for printing on 3 January 2020. The exam dates are 1, 2, 8, and 9 February 2020. The results will be announced online on 16 March 2020.

Eligibility

Candidates looking to apply for GATE 2020 need to fulfil the basic eligibility criteria set by the conducting authority. This includes:

  • Possessing either a bachelor’s degree in BE/BTech, BSc or BArch with 60%-70% marks in the qualifying exam, or
  • Possessing a master’s degree in ME/ MTech, MA, MSc, MCA with 60%-70% marks in the qualifying exam from a recognized university/institute,
  • Appearing in the final year of a degree program.

 

Exam process

  • There will be 65 questions in all the papers in total. They will consist of multiple-choice and numerical type.
  • The question paper will contain 3 sections: General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics, and Subject Specification Section.
  • The exam will be a total of 100 marks.
  • For MCQs and NATs, questions will carry 1 or 2 marks. In MCQs of 1 mark, 1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answers. For MCQs of 2 marks, 2/3 marks will be deducted for the same. There will be no negative marking for numerical type questions.
  • The total time to complete the paper will be 3 hours.

 

Application form

The last date to submit the GATE 2020 form is 28 September 2019. Candidates should be ready with accompanying documents such as qualifying degree certificate, category certificate, and PwD certificate (if applicable).

 

GATE 2020 Answer Key

IIT Delhi will publish the GATE 2020 Answer Key for all 25 papers in February third week (tentative) separately. Candidates will be able to access the key online. They can submit their objections or suggestions for the key by paying a fee within a given period.
