JEE MAIN Exam 2020

JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) is a national-level engineering entrance exam that is a gateway for admission to engineering colleges in India such as Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology, and Government Funded Technical Institutes. It is also a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced admissions to approximately 11,279 seats in 23 IITs. The National Test Agency (NTA) began conducting JEE from 2019. It was earlier conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

 

Exam Pattern

Apart from the change in the conducting agency, there have been several other changes in the pattern of the exam. JEE Main 2020 will now be held for 3 papers i.e. Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech, admissions, Paper 2 for B.Arch. admissions, and Paper 3 for B. Planning. The exam will also be conducted twice a year i.e. the first exam in January and the second exam in April. Candidates can appear for the exam both times. The best score will be considered for All India Rank (AIR). 

 

Eligibility Criteria

There are a few eligibility criteria to appear for JEE Main. There is no age limit but candidates must satisfy themselves about the eligibility of age limit requirements of the institutes to which they seek admission. Students who have cleared their intermediate exams in 2018 and 2019 are eligible. Students who will appear for 2020 intermediate exams are also eligible to apply. Along with this, students must pass in 5 subjects including Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects with Chemistry/Biology in the intermediate or equivalent exams.

 

Application Information

The applications are issued online only on the official website jeemain.nic.in. The exams will also be held in online mode i.e. CBT (Computer Based Test). Admit cards for the exam were issued on 6th December 2019. The exams will be held from 6th January to 11th January 2020 and from 3rd April to 9th April 2020. The results of the January exams are expected to be out on 30th January 2020 while the results of the April exams are expected to be announced on 30th April 2020.
